2020 Songs - “How Glorious the Splendor”
I’ve noticed there are certain themes my heart and mind tend to return to as I write songs to and about God. The joy that can be found in Him, His love and, the gospel and His grandeur! That fact that He Himself is beautiful, He is the Creator of all beauty, and that we are to live in fear and wonder of His majesty moves and inspires me greatly. This song is yet another expression of this. I so want to live continually in awe and reverence of Him and inspire others to do the same.
What a joy it was to sing this song with my daughters, Emmie and Eileen, at Lake Louise, in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies. Special thanks to our dear friends, Pastors Jachin and Becca Mullen, for having us to their wonderful church, Home Church, and for driving us to this glorious place, and thanks to the Christian Assembly Choir for adding their voices to this song!
This song is taken from Psalms 145:3-8 NIV, "Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts. They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty— and I will meditate on your wonderful works. They tell of the power of your awesome works— and I will proclaim your great deeds. They celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness. The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love."
Psalm 8:1 NLT “O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens.”
