"What a Friend We Have In Jesus/Lifter of my Head" | The Psalm 33 Sessions

This song is written from different sections of Psalm 23 and especially Psalm 3:3: “But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.” I was so struck that our God is the great encourager, lifting our heads in times of discouragement. It also reminded me that, as I grow older, one of the most empowering things I can do is give someone a sincere word of encouragement!

As a writer of worship songs, I am musically tempted to always write the next huge epic worship ballad, but I love that this song is a simple waltz and makes me feel like I'm on a walk with God in a beautiful place. I pray that for any of you who are feeling downcast and hopeless, God will be the lifter of your head once again through this song!
