"I'm Runnin' the Race" (1 Corinthians 9:24-26) | Soulful Scripture Songs
I love the Olympics! When I watch people who have sacrificed what most people aren't willing to sacrifice and have trained in a way that makes them the best in the world at something, I literally get emotional.
This is why I have always loved 1 Cor. 9:24. It reminds us to not just run... but run to WIN! And not aimlessly run, but directly for and to our ultimate prize. Don't forget, God is a rewarder and has rewards for us! SO LET’S GO!
In regards to the writing of this song, it was so much fun. I knew I wanted it to be an uptempo song with modulations. As a result, you may notice that on the bridge section I can hardly spit the words out... but we had to play it as fast as possible. It was also super fun to play with the guys!
I hope it inspires you to keep going, serving, worshiping, and running for His glory!
1 Cor. 9:24 “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.”
