Song of the Week 2019 – #2 – “Peace”

It’s no secret that we live in a time when anxiety and fear are on the rise among every ethnicity and age group. I wrote this song in hopes that it would take people away from the noise to the - beyond understanding - peace of God.

John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

These are Jesus’ words to us today. Though there will be trouble, He - the Prince of Peace intends that we live experiencing peace that is deeper than any of our fears or doubts - peace that isn’t dependent on circumstances but only on the the peace-giver Himself, Jesus Christ.

Lord, I pray that Your perfect, healing peace will invade the heart of the person reading this right now. I pray that trembling fears be replaced with grateful awe of You and your calming, reassuring nearness. In your wonderful, beautiful, and peace-bringing Name I pray, Amen.

Philippians 4:6,7 CSB “Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Eph. 2:14 CSB “For he is our peace...”

Psalm 29:11 CSB “The Lord gives his people strength; the Lord blesses his people with peace.”

Isaiah 9:6 CSB “For a child will be born for us, ...He will be named... Prince of Peace.”

2 Thess. 3:16 CSB “May the Lord of peace himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with all of you.”

Special thanks to Samantha Chaffin on cello and Joelle Roup and Julianne Jimenez for performing a first ever, harp duet on one of my songs. I love trying new things and you all did such a beautiful job!

The "Song of the Week 2019" campaign is a new song, released every week for the majority of 2019. The motto for this project is, “Share a Song, Share your Faith.” It's our prayer that these songs will be a resource for the Church and a way for individuals to share their hope in Jesus.
