Song of the Week 2019 – #21 – “As We Leave This Place”
As a worship leader, I find I’m always wanting to close our worship service with a meaningful song as we head out into our new week of living with and for our God. I always want us to have a moment to consider what was just spoken and to offer our response in prayerful, hopeful surrender. Personally, I have such fond memories of watching my dad, a retired pastor, lead the traditional Doxology to close out our services; it always seemed to put a big and beautiful AMEN right at the end! I pray that this song can do the same. Also, I want to offer a word of encouragement to all who faithfully serve your church family in some capacity. Jesus LOVES His church! No matter how big or small your contribution may feel, you are an invaluable part of God’s plan to build His eternal Kingdom!
Ephesians 5:1,2 “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us,...”
Isaiah 52:7 NIV “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!’”
2 Corinthians 9:8,11 NIV “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work...You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”
Matthew 5:16 NLT “In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”
Ephesians 2:10 ESV “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”
Psalm 19:14 NLT “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”
Psalm 125:2 NIV “As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the LORD surrounds His people from this time forth and forever.”
Isaiah 52:12b NLT “...For the Lord will go ahead of you; yes, the God of Israel will protect you from behind.”
Deuteronomy 31:6 NLT “So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
