This song is a finger-style guitar waltz written from the book of Isaiah, chapter 43. Here, God is speaking directly to his people, assuring and comforting them and us with declarations of who He is, what He has done, and what He will do. He calls us by name, calls us His own and is the God who will walk with us through our greatest struggles.
I love the last section when we repeat “I am with you, you are Mine, I am with you, you are Mine.” (I wish we would have repeated it more but, although it doesn’t look like it, we were freezing!) This song was recorded in the Angeles National Forest about 12 miles from my home and features my daughter, Emmie, on her nylon string guitar. There’s nothing more fun than worshiping with my kids!
Special thanks to Sara Rowe and Carlos Gallardo-Candia for videoing & recording the audio.
Isaiah 43: 1-3 1
But now, this is what the Lord says—
he who created you, Jacob,
he who formed you, Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
3 For I am the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
