Song Of The Week - #29 - "I See The Lord"

This song came after my experience attending an evening at the Bethel worship conference here in L.A. last spring. The lyrics here are taken from Isaiah 6 which gives us one of the most beautiful and sobering glimpses of the glory and awesomeness of our God. Something else I love about this passage is that it is a worship experience ending with Isaiah being sent out to the people. It reminds us as worshipers of the one true God to be a people on his mission to bring more worshipers to his throne. Lastly, this song features Carlos Gallardo-Candia and Jesenia Bernal singing in both Spanish and English. Besides being so beautiful, it is a taste of how all nations will come and worship as we carry the good news to all people on earth.

Special thanks to Jesenia Bernal and Carlos Gallardo-Candia on lead vocals, Jonté Moore on keys, Carlos Gallardo-Candia also on ukulele and cajon, Emmie Walker on guitar and vocals, Eileen Walker on vocals, Sara Gallardo-Candia for camera work, Jason Rose for his help with all the gear and tech support, and to Danny and Judy Villanueva for their friendship and for welcoming all of us to their beautiful home in CO!

Isaiah 6:1-8 It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of his robe filled the Temple. Attending him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. They were calling out to each other, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory!” Their voices shook the Temple to its foundations, and the entire building was filled with smoke. Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. He touched my lips with it and said, “See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.” Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.”

Rev. 4:8-11 “Day and night they never stop saying: “‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,’ who was, and is, and is to come.” Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”

Ps. 95:6 “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;”

Ps. 57:9-11 “I will thank you, Lord, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations. For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens. May your glory shine over all the earth.”

John 4:23, 24 “But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
