"What Do You Say" | Eileen Walker
I wrote this song towards the end of January 2020, after one of the hardest days of my life. All I could say about the day was that it held anger, sadness, confusion, and lots of grief. So, I took it to the piano and asked the Lord what He had to say about the day. I expected some sort of correction. Instead, He sang this chorus over me:
"I'm the God who's close to the brokenhearted. I'm the God who weeps with those who weep. I’m the God who knows suffering and pain. I'm the God who's always gonna stay.”
It is amazing how His word never returns void, and how the truth really does set you free. I am so thankful for my Father and Friend, Emmanuel, the Great Comforter, and I pray that if you find yourself in a similar season you will let the Father sing His nearness and love over you.
Psalm 34:18 "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
Hebrews 13:5 NIV “...God has said: "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you."
Luke 7:13 NLT When the Lord saw her, his heart overflowed with compassion. “Don’t cry!” he said.
Isaiah 42:3 ESV “a bruised reed he will not break, and a faintly burning wick he will not quench;...”
Luke 11:35 NLT "Then Jesus wept.”
Psalm 147:3 ESV “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
John 11:33 NIV "When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.”
Hebrews 4:15 NIV “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.”
Romans 12:15 NIV “...mourn with those who mourn.”
ESV “...weep with those who weep.”
