This song is from Psalm 1 and represents so many things I love: the Psalms, putting music to the Psalms, writing songs that are full of joy and celebration, and making music that is fun to play with my friends and family. Good times all around! I do also pray that this song will remind all of us to consistently read and DELIGHT in God’s Word.

This song, as well as most of the others on this, "Soulful Scripture Song" project, came from my devotions in the early morning hours, reading the verse of the day in the YouVersion Bible app. I would read it, meditate on it, and listen for a melody. Often, without my guitar, I would simply whisper what I was hearing,

This song has to be one of my favorite songs on this, “Soulful Scripture Songs” project! I love the thought that, built into the act and invitation of casting our cares on the Lord, we are given His sustaining strength and power. For a season of my childhood my family and I ended almost every church service singing this verse. It was our doxology. It was set to a different melody than the song in this video. I am sure this passage has been sung many different ways, but I couldn't resist attempting to set it to an epic ballad style.
