There isn’t a huge backstory to this song or to why I wrote it. I just started singing it. It flowed out of me because it’s my heart’s song. I didn’t form a bunch of lyrics, I just sang what my heart always is, and it’s simple ~ Jesus is all I want.

If there is one thing that we humans are not very good at, it’s waiting. We want to have instant everything! The problem is, when we arrange to satisfy our own needs and desires rather than waiting patiently on God, we miss out on the deepening of relationship and personal transformation God desires for us as we wait with Him.

As a worship leader, I find I’m always wanting to close our worship service with a meaningful song as we head out into our new week of living with and for our God. I always want us to have a moment to consider what was just spoken and to offer our response in prayerful, hopeful surrender.

Since the beginning of time human beings have looked up at the stars and to the beauty of nature around them and wondered if there could be something more. Through His creation, God shouts and reveals to all humanity that Yes, there is! God’s desire is that we would experience his majestic creation and follow that inner wondering to Himself!

This song is written from Exodus 15:26 “...for I am the Lord who heals you.”  When I was ten years old my mom was miraculously healed of a back injury. Because of a fall, she had surgery and three discs removed in the mid-1960’s, but her condition only worsened from there. During this season her pain was so great she could barely get out of bed in the morning and was becoming immobile.

This song is a declaration of an astounding truth of Christian faith... the God of the universe lives inside of us! 1 John 4:4 declares - “Greater is He who is IN me, than he who is in the world.” It’s hard to fathom but it is the promise of God’s Word. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead is literally closer than the breath we breathe, giving us the desire and power to do his will.
